On behalf of the The
Academy Tryouts The primary purpose of this tryout is to fill openings on
existing Academy teams and possibly form new teams who will compete in the 2008
Spring season.
Through the implementation of these tryouts we can evaluate and place
new players appropriately, and in the case where a player cannot be placed, we’ll
do everything possible to promptly give notification and an explanation if
necessary. Each player will receive notification from a coach, age
group coordinator or the Director of Coaching as to whether they have been
placed on a team. You will receive
this notification by phone on or before December 1, 2007. If placed on a team, you will be provided
with information regarding the upcoming season and the date for a mandatory
registration meeting that will take place soon after tryouts. Note that it is the Academy’s policy to have new players tryout for their own age group, even if they have
“played up” previously with other clubs.
Our Director of Coaching will then make the decision as to whether a
particular player should play with an older age group. Training/Coaching The Many
of our trainers are current or past college and professional players
themselves. Each team will receive
training at least one night a week with a qualified Coerver®
trainer. The second practice night will
be with the team’s designated coach.
Many of our coaches are already qualified Coerver®
trainers or hold OSYSA CEP licenses. The Academy also provides additional
technical training, goalkeeping
training, and striker training at no additional cost. We can also
recommend accredited speed and strength training programs. Fees The
Academy’s fees consist of three parts:
club fee, team fee and uniform fee. The club
fee includes the following: Academy
registration fees and club expenses, league fees, league referee coordinator
fees, player cards, coaching/trainer fees, game field rentals, training
facility management and facility equipment.
The club fee is collected directly by the club each season. Below is a breakdown of the club fee for each
age group for the 2008 Spring season: 2008 Spring Competitive Fees for TCYSA League Teams per
player: U8 & U9
$150 U10 & U11 $200 U12, U13 & U14 $225 2008 Spring Competitive Fees for BPYSL League Teams per
payer: U12, U13 & U14 $200 2008 Spring Competitive High School U15 through U18 To be determined by the team’s level of play and league placement. The team
fee covers the following: league
referee fees, tournament fees, and other costs specific to the team. The team fee is collected by the Team
Administrator. Team fees vary by team
depending on the number of tournaments and the number of players on the team. But, team fees can range between
$80 - $150 per player per season. Lastly,
there is the uniform fee. Each
Academy player purchases and owns their uniform. The basic uniform package for age groups U10
and up includes: Adidas shorts, Adidas
jersey, Adidas socks and a white numbered t-shirt for an alternate top. The total cost for the package is approximately
$55.00. The uniform package for the U8
& U9 age groups includes: Adidas
shorts, white and blue numbered t-shirts and Adidas socks at a cost of
approximately $40.00. The uniform orders
are placed by the Team Administrators for each team. We
believe that these fees are very competitive for our area when taking into
account the extremely qualified training and coaching that we provide our
members. Fundraising To
help with these costs, often the team and/or the club will organize
fundraisers. Club fundraisers are
organized by the club and benefit the club as a whole. Team fundraisers are at the discretion of
each team and are organized by the Team Administrator or other parents. In an effort to help Academy members raise money
to help pay for their fees, the club also administers the Scrips
gift card fundraiser and offers time slots to work at the concession stand at
our home fields. The money raised can be
used for either club fees or team fees. Leagues Home Fields/Location Most
Academy players play games and train at our new 10-acre training complex
located at Practices/Games Practices
are held at a minimum of twice a week, with additional practices at the
discretion of each coach. Practices for
the 2008 Spring season will start in March. League games are played primarily on Sundays,
but could be rescheduled for any day of the week due to tournament conflicts,
etc. League games for the 2008 Spring season will start mid-April and end the beginning of
June. Tournaments Each
Academy team will participate in tournaments.
The number and location of tournaments will vary by team. Typically, our younger age groups such as the
U8 group will only play in one local tournament. However, other teams may participate in two
or more, with one or more out-of-town tournaments per season. Each coach will obtain feedback from the
families on his/her team and make the decision on which tournaments to
participate in. Questions/Information Please
